Electronic City or Mysore Road: how should you compare a flat?

Direct answer: Electronic City is the Hosur Road IT belt, with the Yellow Line open to Bommasandra since 10 August 2025, and with a khata that may be the industrial township's or the city's. Mysore Road is the western Purple Line, open through Kengeri since 2021, mostly inside the city until you go past it. Compare the station you can board and the office you drive to. Do not compare two slogans.

What are the key takeaways?

  • Yellow Line: RV Road to Bommasandra, inaugurated 10 August 2025, with Electronic City stations.
  • Purple Line west: Mysore Road to Kengeri, in service since 30 August 2021.
  • Electronic City Phase 1 khata can be ELCITA or GBA. Read the issuer.
  • West Bengaluru beyond Kengeri is a different civic file from a flat at Mysore Road station.

What does Electronic City have today?

Electronic City is on Hosur Road, south of the city, built around the industrial township and the offices along it. The Yellow Line of Namma Metro was inaugurated on 10 August 2025. The Press Information Bureau describes it as the line from RV Road to Bommasandra, a little over 19 kilometres with 16 stations. The Hindu's report of the same day records the Prime Minister travelling as far as the Electronics City side. Stations on the published list include Electronic City. That is a train you can use. It does not remove the last-mile road from the station to a flat on Neeladri Road or further toward Chandapura.

The khata is the part people skip. Electronics City Industrial Township Authority runs its own e-Khata for property inside the township. Flats marketed as Phase 1 sometimes sit in the township and sometimes in the adjoining city ward. Which e-Khata you are looking at is a separate page because the issuer changes the file. Do not assume BBMP because the pin says Electronic City.

What does Mysore Road have today?

The Purple Line has run west for years. On 29 August 2021 the stretch from Mysore Road to Kengeri was inaugurated, and The Hindu reported commercial service from 30 August 2021, with stations at Nayandahalli, RR Nagar, Jnanabharathi, Pattanagere, Kengeri Bus Terminal and Kengeri. The Press Information Bureau's note of the inauguration describes the same extension. A flat that can walk to one of those stations is a different commute from a flat that only faces the highway.

Much of this corridor, through Vijayanagar, Nagarbhavi and Kengeri, is inside the city khata system. Further toward Bidadi you leave it. What to check on a west Bengaluru flat is the wider note. Flooding along the low ground near the Vrishabhavathi side is a site question: look at the basement against the road after rain, the same way you would on any corridor. This page will not invent a flood year for a junction you have not stood in.

How should you choose?

Put the office on the map first. A job in Electronic City and a flat on Mysore Road is a cross-town trip the metro does not make in one seat. A job in the western city and a flat in Electronic City is the same mistake in the other direction. Then put the khata and the occupancy certificate next to the station. A running metro does not repair a B-register flat. Chandapura, further down Hosur Road, is beyond the Yellow Line and is covered in buying in Chandapura.

Frequently asked questions

Which corridor has a metro I can board now?

Both, on different lines. Yellow Line to Electronic City and Bommasandra since August 2025. Purple Line through Mysore Road to Kengeri since August 2021.

Is Electronic City Phase 1 under the city corporation?

Sometimes. The industrial township issues khata inside its limit. Adjoining residential pockets may be on the city register. Read the document.

Does Mysore Road mean the flat is outside the city?

Not by itself. Much of the Purple Line west is inside the city. Past Kengeri, check the khata office again.

Should the IT offices decide it?

They decide the commute if you work there. They do not decide the khata or the occupancy certificate.
