Picking a gated community in Yelahanka New Town: which towers face the railway line?

Direct answer: No public list names the towers. The flats in a Yelahanka New Town gated community that face the railway are the ones whose balconies and bedrooms look at the track on the approved plan.

Check it twice. Once on that plan, and once standing on the same face while a train goes past. A Sunday walk from the clubhouse skips both.

Yelahanka Junction (YNK) is a working Indian Railways station in Yelahanka, on the Guntakal to Bengaluru line. It is also the junction for the Bengaluru to Kolar line, and for a link toward the city line via Krishnarajapuram. The station atlas puts the address at Kamakshiamma Layout, Yelahanka, Bengaluru 560064. Facing is still a unit question. One society can have the line along the back wall. Further in, the windows can look at a park.

On 29 September 2024 a buyer on r/bangalore asked about gated communities in Yelahanka New Town and named a few societies. Someone who had lived in one of them wrote that a railway track runs behind that society, and pointed to the block nearest the track. That note covers one block. Open your own floor plate.

Checks before you book

  • The sanctioned plan. Ask for the site plan and the floor plate of the unit. Find the railway boundary, then your tower, then the balcony and the bedroom windows. Windows toward the track mean that flat faces the line, even when the brochure calls the side a garden. If another tower stands between you and the rails, mark it on the copy you keep.
  • A visit at train time. Open the Yelahanka Junction timetable. Go for a morning train, and again after dark. Sunday afternoon at the sales office is the quiet slot. Stand on the floor you would live on, or on the plot in line with that face if the block is still a slab. Windows open, then shut. How to listen, including at night, is in acre&key's note on a flat near a railway line.
  • A resident on that face. If people have moved in, ask a resident on that side what the night trains sound like.
  • The rest of the buy. Khata, water, and whether the metro or suburban date in the brochure is the one still in the news. Start with what to check when buying in Yelahanka. Rates, metro, water and flood risk are in the Yelahanka living guide.

The mistake to avoid

Buying off one kilometre from "Yelahanka New Town" to the station. That number usually starts at a gate or a bus stop. Your bedroom is a direction. A July 2022 thread about moving to Yelahanka covered roads, the airport and the trip into the city. Tower facing never came up.

Read the unit on the approved plan. Then stand on that face while a train passes.

Frequently asked questions

Does every gated community in New Town face the railway?

The junction sits on one side of the locality. Towers on the far side of a large layout can face away from it. You still read your own block.

Will a higher floor be quieter?

Floor height on its own leaves it open. An upper floor can look over a wall that hides the track from the ground. Listen on the floor you would buy.

Is the station a reason to pick the flat?

It helps if you take trains. A handy station and a bedroom looking at the tracks are separate facts. Check both.
